W regret
to record the death in his 65th year of Mr. James
Hogben on Tuesday morning at his residence, 3, Marine Parade, Hythe. The deceased was
a native of Lyminge· but he migrated to Hythe nearly 40 years ago when he commenced a
blacksmith's business in Rampart Road which trade he carried on until 11 years ago when he
retired through ill-health. He has been a sufferer for years. The cause of death was
asthma and heart disease. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon at the Hythe
cemetery, previous to which a service was held at the house by the resident Wesleyan
Minister, the Rev. A.W. Coulson. The remains were followed to the grave by Mrs. Hogben (widow), Miss E. Hogben, Miss S.
Hogben, Miss M. Hogben, Mrs. Cave, Mrs. Gibbs,
Mr. R. Hogben, Mr. James. Hogben (sons and daughters), Mr. Gibbs
(son-in-law), Mr. Judges, Miss Madden, Mr. W. Lorden, Mr. Hogben, Mr. H and Mr. W. Hogben (Lyminge), Mrs. Kingsmill (Elham), Mr. John Kingsmill (Folkestone). Mr. & Mrs.
W. J. Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Kelway (Folkestone), Mr. J. and H. Stanger.
Wreaths were sent by the members of the family and by the nieces and nephews
